Bank reconciliation: import your statement and match it with your books
Upload the bank statement, match every line, record what is missing in one step, then close the period when the balances agree.
Updated October 23, 2026
1. Import the statement
- Open Money → Bank reconciliation and choose the bank account.
- Press Import statement. Supported formats: CSV, Excel, MT940, CAMT.053 and OFX.
- For CSV and Excel, pick a bank preset (Al Rajhi, SNB, Riyad Bank, SAB, Alinma, Bank Albilad, Arab National Bank, Saudi Investment Bank) or match the columns yourself: date, description, reference, and debit + credit or one signed amount.
- Check the preview: duplicate lines are skipped, so importing the same file again is safe. A warning shows when the file's running balance does not add up.
- Press Import. Save the column matching as a template to reuse every month.
Banks change their file layouts now and then, so check the columns even with a preset.
2. Match
For each statement line the system suggests what it matches in your books (receipt, disbursement, expense, journal):
- Match: accept the suggestion, or pick one or more items whose total equals the line.
- Create from the line: when it is not recorded yet (such as bank charges), create the expense or payment from the line in one step.
- Rules: under Bank rules create a rule such as "every line containing 'fee' → bank charges expense" and it is suggested automatically.
3. Close the reconciliation
When the bank's ending balance equals the reconciled book balance to the halala, press Finish reconciliation. Lines up to that date are locked, and older lines are not imported again.
Tip
Reconcile every week or month; short periods are far easier than a whole year.
