Work out zakat from your books

A zakat-base worksheet from the year-end balances, with your adjustments, then posting the zakat provision.

Updated October 23, 2026

Open Reports → Zakat and choose the year. It works in three steps:

1. Profile and ownership

  • Year type: Hijri or Gregorian.
  • Saudi and GCC ownership: zakat applies to their share only.
  • How your accounts count: each balance-sheet account has a default class (equity, liabilities, deductions) you can change.

2. Review the worksheet

The year-end balances appear grouped as equity, liabilities, deductions and adjusted net profit. Each line has:

  • the amount per the books,
  • an adjustment you enter,
  • a note explaining why.

You can add manual lines, and Refresh from the books re-reads the balances while keeping your adjustments.

3. Result

  • The zakat base, then the zakat due.
  • The rate: 2.5% for a Hijri year; for a Gregorian year it is raised for the extra days (2.5% × 365 ÷ 354 ≈ 2.5776%).
  • Finalize the declaration, then post the provision: debit zakat expense, credit zakat payable.
  • Print in Arabic or English, and export CSV.

When you pay ZATCA, record a journal: debit zakat payable, credit the bank.

This is a working aid built from your books, not Sharia advice and not a filing with ZATCA. Have a zakat adviser review it before you file.
